The Malle Motorcycle Luggage System
For over a decade The Malle Team have been working hard, to create the ultimate, universal motorcycle luggage system to suit every terrain, adventure and motorcycle
Below is a guide to installing your Malle kit onto your machine
A Modular System
Each adventure is unique and the Malle modular luggage system is designed to adapt to your journey. At the heart of the luggage system is The Malle Module – made from our signature expedition ready waterproof, coated canvas, quilted for comfort, with nato spec military webbing straps – it simply attached to the seat or the tank of the motorcycle to create a quick-release base for the Motorcycle Panniers, Tank Bags, Tail Packs and the Duffel, as well as being an anchor point for other luggage/storage.
Before You Begin
Park your motorcycle on level ground and keep it upright, ideally using a centre stand.
Check that all Malle straps, buckles, and anchor points are in good condition before riding.
Your Malle system is designed to work together seamlessly.
For installing the Malle Motorcycle Panniers, we advise you to install a set of pannier rails to suit your machine. This allows you to position the bags far back enough on the motorcycle to clear space for the pillion foot pegs and will stabilise the bags, making sure there is never any contact with the chain/belt, exhaust(s) or wheel.

Installing The Malle Module:
To The Seat
For The Malle Panniers, Tail Pack or Duffel
- Remove your motorcycle seat (reference the manufacturers instructions if needed).
- Lay the Malle Module flat across the top of the seat, positioned to to the rear (where a passenger might sit) with the soft side down and the Malle logo facing up.
- Holding The Module roughly in place, flip the seat over, looping the straps around the underside of the seat, attaching the two Malle G Clips to the most appropriate loop position on the opposing, connecting strap.
- Adjust the straps, so they are tight and The Module is secured firmly in position to the seat, but not so tight that the seat cannot be reinstalled. The seat will create final tension once it is back in place. Tighten or loosen the straps if needed.
- Once you are happy with the fit and are confident The Module sits firmly in place once the seat is installed, tuck in or trim off any excess strap.
- Reattach the seat and make sure it locks in securely to the motorcycle.
NOTE: The seat often creates the final tension once it is back in place.
To The Tank
For The Malle Hybrid Tank Bag and Map Case
- Lay the Malle Module on the tank, positioning it so you still have access to the fuel cap with the Malle logo facing up and towards you when sat on the motorcycle.
- Loop the straps closest to the set under the tank / front of the seat, through the other side, making sure you are not interfering with any cables and attach the the G hook to the opposing, connecting strap.
- Loop the longer straps at the headlight end of The Module around the headstock, attaching it to the opposing, connecting strap, again making sure you are not interfering with any cables. TIP – Make sure you connect the G clip to the top side of the strap, making sure there is no contact with the clip and your tank to prevent any scratching.
- Ā Adjust the position of The Module by shortening or lengthening each strap, then tension the straps so the module is tightly secured.
Attaching
The Expedition Panniers
Once you have installed The Malle Module as instructed above, mounting any of The Malle Panniers is simple.
- Simply hook the panniers on either/each side of the motorcycle using the G-Hooks fixed to the rear of the pannier to attach it to the Malle Module.
Tip: Use the webbing ladder on the Module to adjust the pannier height, moving them higher or lower to suit your bike and load. - To prevent horizontal movement when cornering or braking, use the two smaller Malle Anchor Straps stored in the front pocket of each pannier. Attach these from the back or side of the pannier to the subframe or foot peg rail to keep everything tight and secure. Simply loop the webbing around the section of frame, feeding the g clip back through before clipping onto the bag. Adjust tension accordingly.
- For waterproof protection, roll down the top of each pannier at least one full turn before clipping shut.
If you need further assistance, send us a photo of your setup and we can help with installation advice.
Attaching
The Expedition Storm Covers
For those extreme adventures, The Malle Expedition Storm Cover is an extra optional layer to help keep your Malle clean and protected from the elements.
- Wrap the elastic strap underneath the top G-Hooks to make sure it cannot get caught by the wind.
- Depending on your load and setup, you can add an extra strap around the cover if desired, although this is rarely necessary.
- Store the storm covers in the front pockets of the panniers so they are easy to accessWhen the panniers are full, the storm covers will be taut.
Attaching
The Expedition Duffel
Once you have installed The Malle Module as instructed above, mounting The Malle Expedition Duffel is simple.
- Place the Duffel, centred on top of the Malle Module with the Malle crest facing backwards.
- Use the Duffelās integrated straps to loop through the anchor points on the Module.
- Pull the straps tight so the Duffel sits centred and secure. It should not move when the bike leans.
- Add additional Anchor Straps if needed for longer or off-road rides.
- Malle Rally Duffel Installation Tip
- In the end pocket of your Malle Rally Duffel you will find four Anchor Straps.
- Each strap has a loop on one end. Wrap this around the subframe beneath your motorcycle seat, then pass the strap back through the loop to attach.
- Use the G-Hook to connect each strap to the webbing on the Duffel at all four corners.
- Tighten each strap using the nylon slider until the Duffel is firmly in place.
- After a few miles or over bumps, check that all four Anchor Straps are still tight.
Final Checks Before You Ride
Walk around the bike and confirm:
There is roughly an even weight distribution on both sides of your luggage.
There are no loose straps near wheels, chain, or exhaust.
That all clips and buckles are fastened securely.
That all bags feel tight, secure and stable.
Your seating position and mobility are unaffected.
It is you, the owners responsibility to make sure your pannier bags are fitted securely so they donāt cause any damage to you, your bike, or anyone elseās property. Ride safe and remember not to exceed your local legal speed limit.
