We had barely whispered the idea through our channels and the Malle inbox was flooded with some of the most unique and beautifully creative machines imaginable. The selection was difficult, but our panel of esteemed judges featuring Calum of deBolex, Wes from BikeEXIF, Paul from Ziggy Moto, Charlie from Stockwell Customs and photographer Amy Shore, selected the finest exhibits for the 2024 exhibition.
The brief for The Custom Build Challenge was simple, build and race the ultimate custom Malle machine. Get creative and interpret that how you will! The winner of the Build Challenge won a Royal Enfield Shotgun and a build budget, to create a custom built machine for the 2025 exhibition and race.
Congratulation to all of the entries in the 2024 exhibition, for your hard work, hours of dedication to this unique craft, building, restoring and preparing the finest motorcycles in the world for the concourse and The Art Of Sprint race.Ā Congratulations to Dirk from Kingston Customs who was selected as the overall winner in the Concourse Exhibition and is now busy building his custom Royal Enfield entry for The Malle Mile 2025. All entrants delighted the crowds as we all got a rare chance to see and hear these beautiful machines actually race. We cant wait to see what future years will bring, this really is the art of machine.

With over 1100 motorcycles racing last year, you can be sure to see everything from rare antique race bikes, super charged lawnmowers, land speed record holders to lightweight custom dirt bikes, suped up and stripped to within millimetres of their functional life. EachĀ hand crafted machine embodies the goal to try and cross one of The Malle Mile race track finish lines before, or at least more entertainingly, than the racer(s) youāre pitched against.
To celebrate these unique pieces of art, at The Malle Mile in 2024, we introduced our first ever āCustom Build Challengeā where members of the Malle community were invited to submit their custom, hand built, rare or classic machine for a chance to win a place in āThe Custom Build Challenge Concourse Exhibitionā in the esteemed Grimsthorpe Castle courtyard. But there is a condition ā every entry must be ready to race in The Art of Sprint race on the Royal entrance.

The Art of Sprint Race
The only condition of The Custom Build Challenge is that all entries are invited to race their custom machine in The Art of Sprint Race, the most celebrated exhibition race at The Malle Mile Festival on the Saturday evening.
This unique 1km tarmac drag race is hosted on the grand Royal entrance in front of the castle gates. The Art of Sprint is a knock out race, where racers compete two at a time, reaching speeds of 150mph+ on the private road. Machines are paired up, like for like and race head to head through a series of heats, with only the winner returning to the start line, until there is only one machine remaining. The final rider is crowned the winner of The Art of Sprint Race for that year at The Malle Mile Festival. Itās one of the most prestigious races to grace the grounds of The Malle Mile to date.
We cant wait to receive this years entries and welcome the winners into this years exhibition and race.
